It's not uncommon to hit a dead end when navigating a Japanese webpage--meaning you rapidly get to text that looks interesting, but is in Japanese only.

Here is a decent solution for "triage" to determine whether it's worth tracking down more details.

First copy the URL of the page in question, then go to Yahoo Japan's online translator:

http://honyaku.yahoo.co.jp/url

Paste the URL into the box, and select the radio button with the Kanji characters for Japanese into English. It's normally the fourth button from the left, and the Kanji characters look like this:

日ー＞英
